Sarah Carrington

Sarah is the current Williamson Research Fellow at the Dolphin Research Institute. She joined the team after completing an internship with the institute in 2025 and is involved in field, laboratory, and desk-based research on marine mammals. Her work primarily focuses on the Port Phillip common dolphins, the Western Port bottlenose dolphins, and managing the Two Bays Whale Project alongside David Donnelly.

In 2025, Sarah completed a Master of Bioscience specialising in marine ecotoxicology and environmental chemistry. Her research investigated the presence and impacts of pharmaceuticals on marine life in Port Phillip. Later this year she will begin her PhD at the University of Melbourne.

Sarah is passionate about marine life at every scale, from microscopic algae to large marine mammals. She enjoys the duality of marine science research, combining detailed data analysis with hands-on fieldwork.
