Island Whale Festival 11 - 13 July 2025

Every winter, Phillip Island transforms into a breathtaking coastal stage as humpback and southern right whales visit the surrounding coastal waters.

The Island Whale Festival is a celebration of these gentle giants and the wonder of nature with a weekend of family-friendly events, marine education, whale spotting opportunities, and much more.

Held during the peak of whale season, the festival captures the wild beauty of Phillip Island in winter - where crisp sea air, dramatic coastlines and incredible wildlife encounters create an unforgettable escape just two hours from Melbourne.

We had so much fun going out on the boat and seeing whales for the first time. The kids had a ball with the whale arts and crafts at festival hub! We’ll be back next year with these two wannabe wildlife scientists!

What a great opportunity to get up close and meet the local whales, penguins, seals and dolphins. So glad that we came to Phillip Island during our trip!
